Los Angeles’ soft-story ordinance (Ordinance 183893) requires seismic retrofit of older wood-frame buildings of two or more stories, built under codes before 1978, with a weak ground floor, typically ground-floor parking or other open space. Owners served an Order to Comply face set deadlines to submit retrofit plans, pull a permit, and complete construction.
The retrofit strengthens that soft ground floor, steel moment frames, bracing, and foundation work. As a licensed General Engineering contractor, KneppKraft coordinates with your retrofit engineer and builds it, with minimal disruption to tenants and parking.
