Why Xactimate Matters

The estimate decides the settlement. Make it accurate.

Xactimate® is the estimating platform the insurance industry runs on, carriers expect loss estimates in its format, with current, localized pricing. KneppKraft has used it since our property-loss work began after the 1994 Northridge earthquake, scaling it across catastrophe responses from the Nisqually earthquake to Hurricanes Katrina & Rita.

The difference is who builds the estimate. A default adjuster scope can miss real costs, code upgrades, structural work, access, and the things only a builder catches on site. Because we’re a licensed structural and general contractor, our Xactimate scopes reflect what the rebuild actually takes, so you’re negotiating from a complete, defensible number.

Common Questions

Will KneppKraft write an Xactimate scope for my claim?

Yes. KneppKraft has estimated property losses in Xactimate since 1994, and as a licensed general and structural contractor, builds scopes that reflect what the rebuild actually takes, not just a default adjuster estimate.

Who is Xactimate estimating for?

Property owners, insurance carriers, and legal teams working an active claim. KneppKraft provides insurance-approved repair and rebuild estimates, full-scope loss documentation, supplement and claim-dispute support, and direct coordination with carriers and adjusters.

Why does the estimator matter more than the software?

The pricing is not the variable. Everyone working in Xactimate pulls from the same regional price list, so two estimates on the same loss rarely differ because of unit costs. They differ because of what got scoped and what got missed, and that is a judgement made on site by whoever is standing in the building. It is where a builder catches line items an office review does not.

Estimating At Catastrophe Scale

What the numbers looked like on the Gulf Coast

Between 2005 and 2007 our team completed 65 files and estimated over $76,000,000 in damaged real estate for insurance adjusters across Louisiana and Texas: commercial properties, municipalities, parishes, shopping malls, hotels, schools, restaurants, apartment complexes, arenas and warehouses.

That work, and the year spent on the Nisqually earthquake before it, is why the catastrophe team carries general contractor licensing in six Western states (the list is on the company history page). It is also why a KneppKraft scope reads like a builder wrote it, because one did.
